In recent months, the Travel South USA region has been represented across all market segments. Travel agents, consumers, and journalists were informed and inspired by the opportunities in this beautiful region. From Southern charm to the beautiful national parks, vibrant music, and delicious cuisine — everything was covered!

Trade Workshops

The Visit USA The Netherlands Roadshow kicked off this series of events. In the last week of September, spread over two days, colleague Marjolein spoke with 120 travel agents. Agents participated in approximately 20 speed-dating sessions, allowing everyone to connect with all attending partners. The time was short but ensured agents were quickly updated on all the latest news in the region. Using sample itineraries and a brief presentation, agents left with useful tips and fresh ideas.

Three weeks later, it was Belgium’s turn as Visit USA Belgium held its American Workshop on October 17. Over 100 travel agents visited the booths or attended presentations. The afternoon ended with a prize ceremony and quiz, where the America Expert of the Year was announced. Prior to the workshop, the annual General Assembly took place, during which three new people were welcomed to the board and the future plans were presented.

Travel Fairs

On October 6, we had a beautiful Travel South booth at the Connections AmeriCan Day. During this informative day, colleague Rianne held three presentations: two about the Travel South region as a whole and one specifically about the stretch of Route 66 that runs through Missouri, in anticipation of the Route 66 centennial in 2026. Rianne also gave a radio interview, reaching those who couldn’t attend the fair, but also sharing with them all that the South has to offer!

At the Joker Reisbeurs in Mechelen on October 20, Travel South was one of the official sponsors. Following one of the most successful editions in 2023 with 1,700 visitors, this year’s fair saw similar attendance numbers. The visitors at this fair stand out, arriving well-prepared with specific questions. At the booth, we could help interested visitors explore possible routes through the region. The day was concluded with a lively Bluegrass concert!

Travel PRESSentation

This media event, organized by various PR agencies in the Netherlands, including Target Travel Marketing, was an ideal opportunity to connect with prominent journalists and get to know new media outlets. The interest was overwhelming, with more than half of attendees stopping by the Travel South booth. Additionally, there was significant interest in the annual Global Media Marketplace hosted by Travel South USA, with the next edition scheduled for March 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky.
