On Feb. 25, Target Travel Marketing welcomed a large delegation from the Travel South region, in the heart of Amsterdam. In 2021 the Travel South USA partners visited Brussels, but this year they are back in the Netherlands. So it was with great honour that the team at Target Travel Marketing worked on this sales mission, and what a successful couple of days we can look back on!
The partners present: Alabama Tourism Department, Atlanta CVB, Country Music Hall of Fame, Discover South Carolina, Evan Williams, Grand Ole Opry, Kentucky Tourism, Memphis Tourism, Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation, New Orleans & Company, Tennessee Tourism and Visit North Carolina.
Speed dating sessions
Monday 26th of April was focussed on speed dating sessions with tour operators and journalists. In one day, the partners met with 40 key players! Despite their jet lag, they spoke enthusiastically with everyone about everything the region has to offer. The meeting facilities of the Double Tree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal provide a beautiful view of the center of Amsterdam. An office with a view! The day ended with a reception, including bourbon tasting and live performance by singer-songwriter and The Voice USA winner Jake Hoot.
Workshops with travel agents
The next day was all about workshops. About 30 travel agents were welcomed in the business center at Target Travel Marketing in Maarssen. In groups of 5 to 6 travel agents, they attended the workshops given by the partners. After the workshops everyone’s knowledge was tested and two travel agents (Loes Rikmanspoel – Little Travel Europe and Petra Hoogkamp – The Travel Club) received a well-filled Travel South USA goodie bag! Satisfied, and with a lot of new knowledge on hand, the travel agents went home.
The delegation continued their journey towards The Hague. Here they met up with Diederick Moreu (Head of Foreign Commercial Service) at the US Embassy. They also got a lovely overview of the Netherlands in Madurodam – a minature park. They day was concluded with a farewell dinner.
Wednesday morning the delegation continued their journey to Copenhagen.
Thank you to all the touroperators, media and travel agents who were a part of this!
